2010 Reunion

2010 Reunion Photo Gallery

Stephen Boehm sent me a dozen photographs that were taken at the 2010 Reunion.  However, he wasn’t able to provide names to go with the photographs. If you attended the 2010 Reunion please notify me if one of the photographs belongs to you.  Email: snoopy@ammsalumni.org

AIRBORNE MISSILE MAINTENANCE SQUADRON
ALUMNI REUNION, APRIL 12-16 2016

Once again the AMMS Alumni reunion comes to a close and we are looking forward to the next one in 2012. I think I can answer for all, at least for Buck Leach, Charlie East, Charles Tomb, Tom Milam, Gary Jansonius, Tom Dillon and I (Tom Hudson), we had a great time. It was stated by several attendees’ prior to departure that it was the best ever. The folks here in the Barksdale AFB, LA (Bossier City/Shreveport, LA) community thank all those that attended. There were a few who had to cancel at the last minute, we are sorry that you unable to attend and we missed each of you. We had a total of 94 registered with 8 unable to attend, however, we picked up 5 that had not previously registered for a final total of 91. The Barksdale AFB, LA and the surrounding area was again selected for the 2012 reunion.

The Hotel, picnic and dinning was again exceptional. The picnic was once again conducted at Cullen Park on the Base, with the dinner being held at the Boomtown Casino Hotel. Cullen Park was again clean and well maintained and the weather was great with numerous fly over by B-52’s and A-10 Wart Hogs.

Registration on Monday went well, as usual, with local missileers and their wives welcoming everyone.  Following registration, the folks headed to the Hospitality Suite hosted by Lila and Gary (Jan) Jansonius and had a great remainder of the day, and from what I heard, well into the next morning. A great big thanks to Lila and Jan for hosting the suite.

We were extremely fortunate to have the Parkway High School Band (Wind Ensemble) perform on Wednesday afternoon. They provided about 45 minutes of popular Band and patriotic numbers, including each branch of services song. All present were extremely impressed with this group of High School students.

Our guest speaker for our dinner was Lt/Co l (Ret) David Hadden, Parkway High School JROTC Commander. His subject was on comparison of SAC and the new Global Strike Command. Everyone enjoyed his presentation. The students from Parkway Junior ROTC Cadets posted the Colors and performed a ceremony honoring our POW’s, MIA’s and our recent Honor Roll members. During the ceremony they named each of the deceased that was added during the past two years.

On Friday morning, again, Shirley and Tom Milam hosted a departure breakfast, which was a great send off for our attendees’. No one left hungry. Thanks Shirley and Tom.

In closing we, Buck and I, thank everyone for attending and are looking forward to an even greater reunion in 2012.  A special thanks to Susie and Jim Loar for providing the sound equipment for the picnic and dinner, Lila and Gary (Jan) for hosting the Hospitality Suite, Shirley and Tom for the breakfast and a special to Buck’s wife Betty and my wife Harriet for putting up with us over the past few months and as always thank Ron Sartor for maintaining our web page. May God bless each of you and we hope to see you again, with many more, in the year 2012.
